- Jester's guide to 950-0266's for the new Phreaker -
This is a file I just decided to write , right after a guy
that lives near me, who runs a bbs complained about his
outrageously high phone bill, and being that I use 0266's I
decided that I would TRY to write a text file on how to use
this simple way of phreaking. I have only been phreaking for 2
months, so what Im about to type is done so with the best of
my knowledge.
There are many different types of 950's, but the type I use is
the 950-0266 and I use these because that is what I was taught
with and they seem like a fairly good, and easy way to phreak.
950-0266s are known to have VERY clean lines, so they are
perfect to use with modems.
The basic format for these codes are:
(1) Dial 950-0266
(2) Wait for tone then dial your 7 digit Code
(3) Right after dialing your Code dial your ACN (Area Code
Number)
I.E. if I were to call my friend Joe in Utah, I would do
this...
950-0266 (tone) XXXXXXX8015551234
The X's stand for the 7 digit code
950's have known to be dangerouse, they are on ESS (electronic
switching service) which is a phreaks nightmare. Being that
950's are on the ESS they can, and have been known to trace.
The type of tracing service on 950's can trace in a heart
beat, so there is somewhat a great risk in using these.
* Some precautions about using 950s - Do NOT use the same code
for more then 3 days. Try to use different codes if you have
them i.e. call one board with a code like 2314211 , and then
call the next board with a totally different code. Use these
codes during prime time, to cut the risk of getting caught
down. And use these in moderation, do not get crazy with them.
I hope this file hasnt been to much of a waste of time, I
hope it has offered some help to you in using 950-0266's.
If this file has offered you some kind of assistance, or if
you just hate it, call my VMB (voice mail box) at :
1-800-444-7207 box # 9542
or call my other VMB at :
1-800-444-7212 hit 4 then box 249

14 Digit Hacking
Well boys and girls, it would seem my predictions of increased
telco security has come true. In 1986 I predicted that within 2
years all of the telcos would move to the 14 digit format. This
because of their inability to protect their systems from us -
phreaks. Take Heart!! We're not dead yet.
Those of you who have read my book, The Phreaker's Handbook or
Phreak's Long Distance Phone Thieves have a handle on what's
up. This is the news on increased telcom security as of Oct 1987.
Allnet
Allnet is going hog wild with their new software analysis
package. They've cut the maximum amount of time you can stay on a
code down to three days. It depends on when you whack it. They do
not run the software on Fri, Sat, or Sun. So if you whack the
code on Friday, it will stay good until Monday around 1 P.M.
Pacific Standard Time. If you bang them during the week, you'll
lose the code in less than 24 hours.
Mci
If your first love was the 5 digit Mci Node, say bye bye. They
are slowly dismantling the local dialup network and keeping the
950-0222 nodes which incidentally are 14 digit At&t 0+ format.
In the last year my return rates have dropped from 5 per hundred
to 1 per 300. Rather pathetic. And that was multinode, multi
destination hacking. Incidentally, another one of my innovations
that came about in May of 1986 when they installed the first
version of the monitoring software.
Sprint
You can start kissing off those 9 digit codes. Sprint's new FON
system is totally 14 digits and can only be accessed thru an 800
number. For which there is a 55 cent surcharge most of which goes
to At&t. Sprint is going to let Ma Bell provide their security
for them. They say they aren't going to issue the 9 digit codes
anymore. They aren't killing all the codes at once though. We
still have time to play with Sprint. I think they're going to
kick back and see what they results of the FON project. If for no
reason other than the expense of 55cents just for the privilege
of placing a call, I recommend everyone discontinue their Sprint
accounts and go to another company. Incidentally, the "increased
quality" of the new fiber optic network can't be that great when
you consider that you have to connect and downconnect to your
destination on the hold copper wire networks owned by your local
telco. Hardly worth 55 cents.
Metrophone
I know of no one who's gotten a code off of Metro in over a year.
This used to be the whore of the networks. She never said no. Now
she never says yes.
Skyline (mci)
950-1088 I've seen codes posted in remote areas for this service.
Have not heard of, or been able to bag one code in the large
metro areas. Mci appears to be killing this node and routing to
the 1022 node again 14 digits.
The problem of whacking 14 digit codes is that of possibilities.
There are 14x14 possible combinations of numbers. This makes it
practically, which any predictable regularity to hack out the
code. We can resort to that old standard (created by me) of
prefix hacking. The attached file is for the entire Southern
California Area. It includes the area code and prefixes used
here. They are all valid and courtesy of Pacific and General
Telephone companies. These 6 digits will reduce the possibilities
down to 8x8. This is a pain in the ass, but it is possible.
This scenario will work with any telco that uses valid phone
numbers as part of the code. DO NOT HACK YOUR LOCAL TELCO OR AT&T
unless you're equipped to do it from a fortress phone (pay
phone). Ess will pick up your actions at you'll have a phone
truck in front of your house within 30 minutes. Trust me, I did
it, and a knew better too. Nothing came of it other than I went
in the bathroom and kicked myself in the ass for being so dumb!
I want you to think of the prefix file as a chain file. Add all
the prefixes in your local area to it, area codes too please.
In a couple of months I want to see this thing back in the
Southern California Area busting at the seams.
Ok, what do we do with those companies that use bastardized
routines for their codes. The Ustel format uses 527 for the 818
area. The new FON card uses 524 for 818. Both companies are now
owned by Sprint so we can see a similarity in the thought
processes here can't we? I'm starting a separate file with the
first six digits of the Fon Card and Another one for the Ustel.
US/Sprint is on the 9501033 node and uses the 0+ At&t format
I've your partial to 800's go for the Fon's. I personally leave
800's alone.
If you're inclined to cancel your Ustel or Sprint accounts, add
your first six digits to the list and put it back in the archive
file. This is the only way we're going to crack the bastards,
group effort at data collection.
There is one other possibility. The 14 digit code is the product
of a formula called a "hashing formula" By entering the first
10 digits of the card it will generate a 4 digit security code.
It also relates to the logical record location within the telco's
computer system. If anyone has this formula, and has no love for
the phone companies....get this sucker into circulation.
Good luck guys...more updates available as the news developes.

950-0266 & 950-1729
Before this g-file is started, we want to make something PERFECTLY
CLEAR. This g-file applies to ALL CURRENT AND FUTURE PHREAKERS. It is not
just for the so-called "elite" hackers that you hear about all the time.
If you have phreaked between December 1988 and this date, or are planning
to start phreaking, THIS APPLIES TO YOU. In addition, this file is NOT
BULLSHIT. We have consulted many phreakers in different areas and they all
knew what we said was true because of recent incidents in their area.
You may have heard about these busts before, but its good to read this
file just in case. We wrote this g-file on January 8, 1989, so all info
is recent.
Recently, two services have been very popular to phreak with. They
were both pitifully easy to hack, and they both had superb and quick
connections with boards across the USA. In addition, thousands of phreakers
phreakers. Up until December, 1988, they were safe
to phreak with and didn't even TRY to catch phreakers. However, starting
in December, a major attack was relased on phreakers nationwide, and it
is still going on as of this date.
Both servies joined forces with all of the major phone companies in
December to, at first, find who CALLED 950-0266 and 950-1729. From December
1st-December 31st, a trace was put on those two numbers and whoever CALLED
those numbers was contacted by their phone company and they were asked why
they called those numbers. We are sure that many people reading this file
received such a call, as some of our members did. However, since this was
just the first stage of the tracing, and both Futuretech and the 0266 company
did not have their tracing equipment in yet, they were not able to tell
what the callers of the access ports DID once they were connected. In
short, giving any story to the phone company about why you called those ports
would do just fine, since they had no record about what anyone did once they
called into the port. All they had on record was the fact that people called.
eir phone company about phreaking decided that
they would never phreak again.
But remember, this was just stage one. It got worse. On January 1st,
1989, the phone companies welcomed in the new year with new equipment. The
company that ran 0266 had the better equipment, and could tell where the
calls were ORIGINATING, however the 1729 company was only able to tell which
numbers were CALLED. Futuretech (the 1729 company) took immediate action
on the 1st and contacted all of the people and boards who were called, and
asked for info on who called them at certain times, and if the people called
knew any hackers or phreakers. With that info, they could tell the phone
company to tap phone lines, and a few people ended up getting busted. There
is rumor of 1729 getting the FULL tracing equipment in by now, but we have
not verified it as of this date. Overall, it is unsafe to phreak with 1729.
950-0266's company was much more harsh. On January 2nd, they found
all of the big-time abusers of their codes, along with a handful of the
"lesser" phreakers who only made a few calls, and took action. They sent
feds and police to search houses and confiscate entire computer systems, in
addition to throwing people in jail and pressing charges. THIS IS STILL
GOING ON. MANY PHREAKERS HAVE BEEN SEVERELY BUSTED FOR USING 0266,
they bust everyone that they can get the police
to go after. If you have been using 0266, STOP NOW! There is no point to
get your life ruined over a few stupid wares from out-of-state BBS's.
Remember, they are busting ALL phreakers, not just the so-called "big-time"
ones. Even people who make less then $10 worth of illegal calls have a good
chance of getting busted.
This still leaves the question about what is safe to use from a pay-phone.
DO NOT use 1729 from a pay-phone. They will investigate the PERSON YOU
CALLED, and can put a tap on your line if they find out about the pay-phone
phreaking. As far as 0266, they are more interested in hitting the
computer phreakers, so it is still relatively safe to use 0266 from a pay
phone, but don't press your luck. Keep your phreaked-pay-phone calls to
a minimum and you will probably be safe.
Your question now is probably, "But what can I do now?? What about
all those RAD WARES on that board in Georgia I'm on??" Well, yes, there
is still one way to phreak that is safe. PC Pursuit. Although several
rumors have gone around about PC Pursuit being dangerous, we have contacts
and know for a FACT that it is not. If you have PCP codes, DON'T GIVE THEM
OUT LIKE THEY ARE SIMPLE TO GET. The more people that have them, the faster
they die, and you will find that they are HARD to get because there is no
way to get your computer to hack them. This file has been true. It is
not bullshit. And it may just save you from ruining your life.

Greetings, phone users. There are so few of us, yet I took the time to type
this out for the betterment of mankind. I would like to say that this was typed
out mostly for my own usage, and not really anybody else's. In example, the AC
chart would only apply accurately to somebody who lives in Decatur, Alabama like
me.
Unfortunately, there are not many text files to be found listing entirely
all country codes as well as US area codes, etc. This listing is current as of
April 15, 1993, and will probably remain so for a good solid week.
All information contained herein is completely legal, and can be accessed
usually by looking in a phone book. This is just a simple text file, that's
all, which makes it much more convenient for many of us.

[ The Extortionist presents: ]

[ How to obtain AT&T calling card ]
[ numbers ]
[ ]
[=====================================]
Call someone (preferably female) and say:
"Hello Mr. xxx, I am [fn] [ln] with AT&T calling card division. I am calling
because we are having some problems with your AT&T calling card. Apparently
some of our files got erased and part of the data that got erased was your
calling card number.
So we need to get your calling card number from you to re-enter it into our
computer(s)."
Try to be really technical, and if the people give you any bullshit about it,
then just say:
"Let me have my superviser call you back, and talk to you."
Then nicely end the call, and throw away the number.
So far, I have obtained 17 credit card numbers using this b.s. method, and I
intend to get more.....

TES Presents
----------------------------------------------
- What To Look For In A Code Hacking Program -
----------------------------------------------
written by Dissident
Phreaking's getting tricky these days, ain't it?
Ok, there are two groups of things a code hacker should have, the
necessities and the things that are good to have... Here are the necessities:
Mutliple ports. If you constantly try to hack from the same port (the
800/950 or whatever number that the company you're hacking from is on) you
are begging to be caught. The program should have an option to handle at
least 5 different ports. It should also be able to handle a different format
for each one if necessary. (One could require nine digits, another only 4,
another requiring a 9 before the place you're trying to call to, etc)
Multiple targets. The program should be able to handle as many
target numbers as it can ports. If everytime you try a code you go to the
same number you are, again, begging to be caught.
The ability to hack codes RANDOMLY. And when I say random, I mean going
as far as to have a different seed each time it generates a random code...
If you hack sequentially I hope you get caught.
Not only should the codes it tries be random, but almost everything about
the program should be random. It should pick a random port, with a random
target, and with a random code. Believe it or not, some companies are starting
to show some intelligence, and they're beginning to notice patterns. . .
You can't predict chaos, remember that.
The ability to stop after a certain number of tries, or a certain number
of successful codes, or at a certain time. If you let the hacker run for a
long time, you better have a LOT of ports and targets set up... Hack for
short periods of time, or for a relatively small number of tries. If you
get impatient and desperate for codes, you will make mistakes.
And now, the nice things to have.
The ability to have a random delay between the tones it dials. Humans
can't dial 11 digit numbers in .7 of a second, and the companies know that.
Humans also cannot dial with a consistent gap between each tone. If the
program puts a random time between each tone, the system will have a better
chance of thinking you're a human.
The program SHOULD be able to encrypt all of the codes it hacks when it
saves them/prints them/etc. That way, IF you get busted, you won't have so
much evidence against you. When you get nailed, they go through everything,
even if they are idiot schmucks. If your list of codes contains all 'wrong'
codes, they'll have less of a case against you.
It is also nice if the code hacker waits a random length of time between
attempts, no matter how many ports it is trying. If you're hacking random
ports, with random targets, with a random delay between digits dialed, with a
random amount of time between all of your attempts, and with a randomly
generated code, you're going to be hard as hell to catch.
And now some warnings. . .
I don't know if it is a COMMON practice, but some companies have set up
bad accounts (codes, whatever) for the specific purpose of catching whoever
tries to use it. If it doesn't belong to a real person, only a hacker would
get it.
Don't hack fast... If at all possible, dial fairly slowly. I've heard
of places that watch for extremely fast dialers.
Don't phreak to the same place with the same code constantly. I feel
that one is self explanatory.
If you're very cautious, you can always use someone else's line when you
are searching for codes. But be SURE you don't leave anything that can point
to you.
If you think there is a chance that you've been snagged, or at least
caught the attention of the Gestapo, stop phreaking. The less stuff they
have against you, the less of a case they'll have against you. Also, if you
keep phreaking, they'll sooner or later shove a printout in your face that
contains every number dialed from your phone. Don't bring everybody else down
just because you got careless.
Speaking of bringing everyone else down... I don't know if the truth has
been out yet, so I'll bring it out. There was a loser by the name of Jeremy
Hall. His common handles were "Quicksilver" and "Shells". He thought he was
hot shit. He set up many Alliance conferences, called up Voice Mailboxes
almost everyday, etc. He was about 13 years old, a little whiny brat.
Well, there was also a damn good phracker by the handle of Amadeus. Ever
wonder what happened to him? Quicksilver turned him in to save his own ass.
He also caused alot of Mailboxes to come down, and I think a few boards came
down because of his ignorance.
Just thought I'd mention that for those who knew Amadeus or Narcsilver.

YESTERDAY THE ZEROX EXTENDER DIED.THAT MAKES THREE IN THE LAST
WEEK,2454488,2454850 AND 8286375. THE REASON SEEMS OBVIOUS. WE'RE KILL-ING
THEM. BY POSTING THE ACCESSCODES HERE AND ON OTHER BBS'S WE ARE INVITING SUCH
WIDESPREAD USE (AND ABUSE?) THAT THE COMPANIES ARE SHUTTING THEM DOWN. THE
ONLY EXTENDERS THAT I HAVE LEFT, OTHER THAN 3211424-6211447, ARE THOSE I FOUND
MYSELF. SERIOUS PHREAKS WILL ADMIT THAT THEY DON'T POST THEIR FAVORITES
PUBLICLY. HOWEVER, ONE PERSONS FAVORITE MAY BE ANOTHER PERSONS TOY. I BELIEVE
THAT WE SHOULD STOP POSTING ACCESS CODES. TELEPHONE NUMBERS
THEMSELVES,ESPECIALLY EXTENDERS, TECHNIQUES, SYSTEM ANALYSIS, AND NEWS YES,
ACCESS NUMBERS, NO! ANY DEDICATED PHREAK CAN FIND HIS OR HER OWN ACCESS CODES,
AND WILL LIKELY RE- SPECT THEM MORE FOR THE EFFORT INVESTED. BY NOT POSTING
THE AC- TUAL CODES WE CAN SAVE THE EXTENDERS THEMSELVES BY STOPPING WHAT MUST
BE MAJOR ABUSE. THINK ABOUT IT!!!

/|| HACKING SECURITY ||\
\|| (C)1988||/
<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>-<()>
First I'd like to thank the following people for thier contributions to this
file and to my knowledge about this fucking world--=-> Frye Guy, Laser,
David Lightman, HackerSoft in it's entirety, The Rebel, Digital Logic,
L.E. Pirate, Brain Tumor, Boris Crack, Mad Max, Sike III, The Blade,
Spartacus, Baby Eagle, Iceman/TOPGUN, Spam Master, & Codebuster.
This file is meant for the beginner/novice/amateur code hacker. Anyone
have been hacking for over 2 years you probably don't need to read.
The first thing I would like to point out is the major LD companies security
systems. A couple years ago MCI and SPRINT installed a NEW type of ESS
which makes it easier to catch code hacks. This system is able to detect
patterns on it's ports, such as one target number being repeated many times or
invalid codes repeating every x number of minutes. They thought they were
smart, but we just have to be a step smarter.
MULTIPLE PORTS-->
By having a code hacker that uses multiple port hacking ( that is one that
can hack many ports in one session ) you can lower the odds of being caught
tremendously. By entering many ports into the hackers database and being able
to access them all in one session reduces the LD Co's ability to catch a
pattern on one of their port/s. With this feature you are able to throw the LD
company off WHERE and WHEN you will strike next. ALSO SEE TIMING PATTERNS.
MULTIPLE TARGETS-->
The first of the (IBM) programs to have multiple targets was Terminus's
Codebuster, it was then implemented into The Brew Associate's Code Thief. By
utilizing a program's multiple target option, the chances you being caught by
their system's pattern detection is almost NIL. Code Thief's multiple target
file contains 369 targets. If you cannot get this target list I suggest you
compile a list of TELENET,COMPUSERVE, etc. dial ups and use them for targets.
At least you'll have a better chance...
PORT PATTERNS & TIMING PATTERNS-->
Long distance companies like SPRINT/MCI usually have more than 1 port in
large cities/areacodes, thus you can hack on many of their ports. Increasing
the number of ports you hack on gives you an edge. The LD's system will get
suspicious if it finds many invalid codes attempts on one of its port. Each
port is allotted a certain amount of invalid codes attempts. If this number is
exceeded an error flag will go on and the security division will be alerted to
the port. So in other words by increasing the ports you can decrease your odds
of being alerted to and ANI'ed.
As mentioned before the LD companies also have timing pattern recognition.
This means they can tell if they are getting an invalid code attempt every
x minutes. This really is the most deadly features of their system ( next to
ANI of course ) because almost every hacker I know of runs on a set amount of
time for each thing to happen. Carrier timeout, seconds to wait till code &
target are entered, all of these are on a fixed amount of time. Every so many
number of seconds the hacker repeats its invalid code timeout & retry time
almost exactly. To get rid of this deadly feature is QUITE simple.
What I suggest is to add another port or two to your list. However, this port
is special because its not a port at all. It's a friend you hate or a
disconnected number or some business. That way your timing for the LD's ports
will not stay predictable. Also vary the carrier timeout value ( a.k.a.
timeout value ) for the fake port numbers. Doing this will make you about as
unpredictable as nitroglycerine made from a T-File.
TIMES TO HACK-->
When I first started code hacking 84' I thought the best time to hack was
at 2 a.m. because there wouldn't be anybody at the L.D. company then. Well
maybe back then there wasn't because there wasn't any customer service after
6pm. But the times have changed. There is security and customer service and
maintenance there 24 hours a day 7 days a week- Even Holidays. So the best
time to hack would be when normal customers are using it. Most customers are
either business's or households. So your best bet would be hacking when they
would use it- M-F 8am to 7pm. This is when most people accidently fuck-up on
their code and thus it is the best time to hack. I would suggest hacking in
the morning since the LD's system is counting the number of invalid attempts
if you do a lot in the morning then the subscribers in the afternoon will get
get evil eye, not you. Usually the LD companies system RESETS its value at
12:00 midnight so that the invalid attempt numbers don't keep adding on the
the previous days. Also hacking on holidays such as Christmas is excellent
because the amount of people calling everyone all over the fucking place is
magnanimous.
IBM HACK PROGRAMS-->
I have an IBM and I use Code Thief Version 2.2 which can be found on almost
any good phreak/pirate BBS around. Most of the code hacker's I have run into
either didn't work on my system because 1> The programmer didn't BETA test the
program totally. 2> The programmer didn't know what the fuck he was doing.
3> The program had so little features that you're bound to be caught using it.
The best program I've found was Code Thief Version 2.2 I have looked over:
Fuckin Hacker 2.0- It didn't work properly on IBM PC (Possibly fucked ARC)
All-In-One Hacker- Not enough features/Parts of program fucked up.
Codebuster- Couldn't get it to work with my modem ( HAYES 1200B )
AutoHack- Not enough features.
NEW PRODUCTS-->
Be on the look out for INTEL-Hack. This hacker is somewhat secret right now,
but I'll tell you it will have all the features of Code Thief but it will take
advantage of the 80386's multitasking capabilities. Lookout it should be
killer, release date: Not yet planned, 89' sometime.
Later, and I hope this shed some insight on how to keep yourself safe...

Ok you Kronies, this will tell you how to hack out long distance
codes like SPRINT, MCI, and so forth......
Sprint, MCI, Tele-net, U S Tel, Citicall, Citi link, Star net,...
and all those others are called PBX extanders. They all have a
7 digit phone number that you dial in and when you hear a tone, you
then type in a code. Some are 8 digits, and some are 5.
Sprint is 8, MCI is 5, U.S. Tel is 6. How to guess them is easy !!
First, you have to have one of those seven digit access numbers,
like the one for toll free Sprint is 950-0777. Once you have this,
you need a phone, a pencil, and a piece of paper.
Lets say that you want to find some sprint codes that will work
on 950-0777. Take the pencil and write down 20 or 30 numbers
consisting of 8 digits each. ( 8 digits for sprint). Dial 950-0777
from a pay phone only, and when you hear the tone, type in the
first set of 8 digits. Then, type in a local number. The number
of a department store or something.
After you type in the area code and the store number, you
will get one of two things... either you will hear a ring or you
will hear a voice. If you hear a ring and they answer " Sears ",
or something like that, you got a good code. If you get a message
saying " that code is invalid ", or something like that, hang up
and try another 8 digits.
Well, this is fine and dandy and all, but what if you do not
know how long the code is?? What you do in a situation like this
is, dial the seven digit phone number, and when you hear the tone,
type in 10 digits, and then press slowly one number after another.
(about 1.5 seconds between digits.) When you hit the right total,
(the 10 digit phone number and the x digit code), you will hear a
recording saying " that code is invalid" or something like that.
You see, the computer will accept a certain number of digits
before it will put the call through. Lets say you typed in 18
numbers before you heard the recording. That is an 8 digit
code. The 10 numbers takes the place of the area code and the
number you would ordinarily dial if you knew a code. The other 8
are the code. Once you know how many digits are inthe code, you
can proceed as above.

FUZZZZ CODES II. Writen 4/12/85
Updated 1/15/86
WRITEN BY THE CHEMIST AND TRANS AMERICA
[CALL THE AGENCY (818) 794 - 5001]
This file was writen for The Agency (818) 794 - 5001, for the PSA network, and
for anyone else is interested in these things. Non-PSA systems may post these
files on their boards---just don't delete the credits though....
By the way, Micron...How about giving out the cat-fur source code? Hey? Oh
well, maybe next year..... Now on with it.....
One little day, I was taking a tour of a governent agency, telling them I was
doing an article for school. Real dumb reason, but it always works! Well, while
I was there, I 'bought' some interesting books....Five finger discount method of
course. The following I took from pgs 52-53 of one of the manuals....
There are most of the police, sheriff, Highway Patrol, and fed codes used in
this entire country. Not all are listed, but the common ones are. A '/'
indicates two different meanings may exist for the same code. So all you
Hams, etc. out there that can pick up police radio, enjoy!. They can't hide
anything from us. Also, if you have found codes that I have not listed, please
leave me (The Chemist) mail on The Agency, PB&G, and/or Remote Hideout.
Since I first wrote this file ages ago, I've gotten my hands on some updates,
etc... Even though *most* of the codes are valid all over the country, these
did come from Los Angeles, so, especially outside of CA, some of the codes might
have slightly different meanings. I've also since got a list of codes for the
Missouri Highway Patrol. The codes are listed, then a dash, then their meaning.
If you see a '[BOTH]' then I've found the codes and the same meanings on the
Southern CA. list and the Missouri list. If you see a [MISS] then I only found
it on the Missouri list. If you see nothing, or [CA] then i found them on my
California list. Note: I only have the 10-Codes for the MHP (Miss. Highway
Pratrol).
MHP frequencies: 42.06, 42.12, 42.22, 42.32, 154.695, 154.875, 154.92,
155.475, 155.67, 155.73, 156.15, 453.95, 456.275, 456.475, and 456.525 Mhz.
Missouri Liquor control is on 154.77 Mhz and the Missouri Boat Commision uses
155.595 Mhz.

*************************** WHICH CODES ARE SAFE?? ***************************
By the group ---> U.T.A. <---
Date of file: November 25th, 1990
This is U.T.A. Phreak-File #4
______________________________________________________________________________
1. INTRODUCTION
----------------
Phreaking isn't as easy as it used to be. Just three years ago, you
could fuck with big companies like Sprint, MCI, etc., and not get caught.
Nowadays there are so many stories going around about phreaking busts that
you're probably almost afraid to even do it from a pay-phone anymore. If
the stories were all clear and true, maybe things wouldn't be as bad.
However, with all of the conflicting reports of these so-called "bustings",
you sometimes wonder what to believe. You have your daring friends telling
you that they phreak and that nothing has happened to them yet. You've got
your cautious friends telling you that every long distance company has ANI
(caller ID) and will bust you if you abuse them, and you've got some
14-year-old on some BBS telling everyone that his "friend" just had to pay
2 million dollars in damage to some piss-ass long distance company for only
using codes twice in his life. Don't you wish that someone KNOWLEDGABLE
would step forward and tell you the TRUTH about all this? Well, such
individuals from the veteran phreaking group U.T.A. have arrived. And this
file is going to set the records straight. Unlike other files that were
written by little illiterate 14-year-old R0dents, this one is written by
members of the experienced phreaking group U.T.A. who have VERIFIED all of the
upcoming information with the phone company itself. For more info about
U.T.A., stay tuned at the end of this file.
And now, our feature presentation...

2. WHAT ABOUT "1-800" CODES?
-----------------------------
In recent times, codes with "1-800" access numbers have been very
plentiful and popular. In additon, while there are many stories going around
about the "unsafe 950 codes", the 1-800 codes have been reported to be
relatively safe. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS! Using a 1-800 code from your house is
like playing Russian Roulette. Any 1-800 number you call has the capability
to get the number you're calling from. This does not just apply to codes.
Many businesses and party-lines that begin with 1-800 also get your phone
number the second you call in. If you are abusing codes that have this
ANI/Caller-ID capability, your phone number will appear on the bill of the
codes that you were using. At this point, your ass will be grass. We will
not lie to you. Many 1-800 numbers are very safe. Many of them DO NOT have
the ANI that we just talked about. However, since there are so many different
1-800 codes that you'll run into, and because there is no way to tell whether
or not they have ANI, you are taking stupid chances by using them. Do not
fall for stories like "I've been using this 1-800 code and it's been safe."
Many of them have the ANI and just choose not to pursue the fraudulent calls
until a later date. Our advice is to ALWAYS stay away from using 1-800 codes,
except from pay-phones.
3. WHAT'S WITH THE 950-XXXX CODES?
-----------------------------------
You've probably heard a lot of bad stuff about the so-called "950 Codes".
Do not fear, as these codes are very safe if you use them correctly. First
of all, we will explain how 950 codes work. Whenever you dial the 950 access
number (i.e. 950-1493, 950-0488, etc.), you are accessing the switchboard
of the company that owns the 950 number. Being that these 950 numbers can
be dialed free from any home phone or pay phone, your LOCAL phone company
(such as GTE, Ma Bell, Centel, or whoever provides your local phone service)
will charge the 950 company 5 1/2 cents. For example, if you were to dial
950-0488 (ITT), your local phone company would charge ITT 5 1/2 cents for
this call. In addition, this is REAL MONEY lost by the 950 company to the
local phone company. It is not the money supposedly "lost" because you didn't
pay for the call you're making. If you make 1000 calls to a 950 number, that
950 company will owe your local phone company $55 for those calls! Normal
people would not call a 950 number 1000 times even in one month, but
when you hack 950 codes, it's a different story. When your computer dials
up your favorite 950 carrier 3000 times to find a working code, it is costing
this 950 company $115!! Multiply this by thousands of hackers and you know
that a lot of these small 950 long-distance carriers have got a problem!
As a result, *ALL* of the 950 companies have asked *ALL* of the local phone
companies to contact them WITH THE NAMES AND PHONE NUMBERS of people who
have dialed them "more times than humanly possible". Do not panic, this
does not mean that 950 codes aren't safe. As stated above, these 950
companies ONLY want the names of those dialing them thousands of times per
month. If you just USE codes and don't HACK them, these 950 companies will
NOT be getting your name & number from your local phone company. Why?
Because when you are just USING codes, you will dial them up no more than a
few hundred times per month (even if you call out a LOT). Since many of
their legitimate customers call that often, they can not go sifting through
the different names trying to determine who is a hacker and who isn't.
However, the person who dials a 950 number about 20,000 times in one week
definitely has "hacker" written all over him. The general rule of thumb is
that it's safe to USE 950 codes, but NOT SAFE to hack them. Let some other
poor sap who isn't reading this file hack the codes and get busted. There
will always be enough dumbshits out there doing this that you can leech
codes off of anyway. Read on to find out some MORE tips on how to abuse 950
codes safely...
4. HOW TO USE 950 CODES SAFELY
-------------------------------
First of all, KNOW THE COMPANY YOU'RE ABUSING. Do *NOT* start phreaking
with a 950 number that you don't know the name of the company who owns it.
Make sure to find out who you're fucking with BEFORE you fuck with them.
The next step is to call the company that you want to abuse. Make sure to
call them during business hours, Monday thru Friday, so you can get to the
right departments. Once you call, ask for the customer service department
and start asking the customer service rep. some questions. Tell them that
you are thinking of subscribing to their service but that your "friend"
had his code abused with them and you want to know what they are doing to
stop these "hackers". Do NOT sound too knowledgable about phreaking or they
may catch on. Make sure to play dumb. Ask them if they have a Caller-ID
feature that tells you where all calls on your bill are made FROM. If they
say "yes", then DO NOT FUCK WITH THEM. If they say "no", then start dicking
this company over right away! If they say "Duh, I don't know!", then try
to ask to be connected with someone who does know. If no one knows, then
chances are that they are safe to fuck with. TRY THIS PROCEDURE WITH AT
LEAST TWO DIFFERENT REPS. Sometimes they will bullshit you for one reason
or another. Also, do not fall for comments like, "We have no Caller-ID but
we have a good security department and usually catch the hackers." This
is their equivalent of saying, "We are lame, come and abuse us." Also,
do not be the "guinea pig" for trying out new companies to abuse. Let others
try them for about a month before you start screwing with them. If all seems
to be going well, then you're probably safe. If you hear that the company
you're abusing has been busting people, get the FACTS. Find out if these
"busted" people were reported by someone or if they were hacking codes. If
either of these are true, DO NOT WORRY. Remember, there are other ways to
get busted besides the company having ANI/Caller-ID. Finally, make sure to
NEVER hack codes yourself. We cannot stress this enough. They WILL catch
up with you, and getting busted is FAR from fun.
5. DON'T LISTEN TO OTHER PHREAKERS
-----------------------------------
It's sort of ironic that authors of phreaking g-files are telling you
not to listen to other phreakers about what is safe or not. Why? Because
95% of the so-called "phreakers" out there are a bunch of inexperienced
r0dents, so you'll end up with false info 95% of the time. Don't try to
determine which people "know" about it and which don't. Many people can put
on a pretty good act that they know what they're doing, when they really
have no idea what is going on. Many will tell you that all 950's have ANI,
many will tell you that 800's are safe, and some will even say that it's safe
to hack codes. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. In case you're now worried about the
credibility of OUR file, rest assured that we have checked out all of the
info written above with the phone companies themselves, so it is surely
correct. If you find some facts in here that can be proven wrong, you are
welcome to contact us and we will change the incorrect info. Our number
will be at the end of the file.
6. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET BUSTED?
-------------------------------------
Hopefully you'll never need this section of our file, but you never know.
Getting busted for phreaking is a STATE crime (NOT a federal offense).
Contrary to many of the stories you have heard, the FBI does NOT get involved
in phreaking activites. This matter is left to your local Police or Sheriff's
Department. Once you are caught, expect to have your computer equipment
confiscated (temporarily or permanently), be forced to pay a fine from
$2000-$10,000 dollars, and have charges pressed on you if you are over 18.
Phreakers caught under 18 are rarely brought to court if their parents
are willing to settle with the long-distance company. If all of this sends
chills down your spine, BE CAREFUL. Getting busted for phreaking defeats
the purpose of phreaking in the first place, because you'll end up losing
more than you gained from the free calls.
7. WHAT IF SOMEONE REPORTED ME?
--------------------------------
If you think someone has reported you or you think that the phone company
is on to you, our advice is to STOP PHREAKING for at least FOUR MONTHS. Any
less amount of time will do you no good. One of our OWN MEMBERS got busted
in early 1989 because he started phreaking again after "cooling off" for
two months because he knew someone reported him. The way the phone company
"monitors" people's lines for PHREAKING (not to be confused w/the way they
monitor HACKING CODES) is they put a "tone-register" on your line. This
"tone-register" will record every digit you press on your touch-tone phone.
It is VERY EXPENSIVE to run this device (about $50/day), and the phone
company will NEVER leave it on a "clean" line for more than 4 months. If
you can't wait out the four months, there is an alternate (but not foolproof)
solution. Dial the 950 number in pulse. You will still have to dial the
code in touch-tone, but dialing the number in pulse will prevent your local
phone company from figuring out which service you are calling (when tracing
you through the tone register). DO NOT confuse this with the way they bust
CODE HACKERS. They are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. There is NO SAFE WAY to hack
codes. A "tone-register" would not be put on your line unless 1) Someone
reports you, or 2) You phreaked a few times with a number that had ANI, but
not enough times for you to get busted.
8. "CALLER-ID STATES" SHOULD WATCH OUT
---------------------------------------
If you live in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York or New Jersey, you have
a real problem. ANYONE, including residences, businesses, and ESPECIALLY
long distance companies have the option of Caller-ID. This makes it very
hard to phreak with ANYTHING safely. More and more states will end up
with Caller-ID as time passes. As of the date of this file, California
DOES NOT have Caller-ID, and neither do any of the other states not mentioned
above. If you hear about Caller-ID becoming available in your community,
STOP PHREAKING until you can determine what is safe.
9. SUMMARY OF ABOVE
--------------------
Don't use 800 codes. Don't hack *ANY* codes. It is safe to use 950
codes as long as you know the company you're screwing with and are sure
that they're safe. Most 950 companies DO NOT have ANI. Use pulse if you
think someone's reported you. Beware of phreaking from "Caller-ID" states.
10. INFO ABOUT U.T.A. AND OTHER U.T.A. PHREAKING FILES
-------------------------------------------------------
U.T.A. started on June 26th, 1989 as a group of two members from the
Los Angeles area. By three weeks later, U.T.A. had grown to become eight
members strong, one of them being from Germany. At the present moment,
U.T.A. has twelve members:
Killer - President, from Los Angeles, CA.
Impostor - Vice President/Public Relations, from Los Angeles, CA.
Slam - BBS Relations, from Los Angeles, CA.
Rice Burner - Demo maker, from Los Angeles, CA.
Ace - Underground work, from Sacremento, CA.
Undertaker - on temporary "disabled list", from Los Angeles, CA.
Disposable Hero - Misc. functions, from Cleveland, OH.
New Deal - Code & Box supplier, from Frankfurt, Germany.
Phoenix - Box hacker, from Holland.
Mr. Nobody/Jetaza - Code supplier, from Rotterdam, Holland.
Domination - Code supplier, from Denmark.
Bandit - Code supplier, from Denmark.
If by reading the above you get the impression that all U.T.A. does is
hack boxes and use codes, you are wrong. We do many other things, and most
of our members have been into phreaking since its "take-off" in 1984. We
are experts on "info" and can get loads of information about someone from
just a simple name and/or phone number. We are experts on phone systems
and are always a few jumps ahead of the phone companies' new "busting"
techniques.
U.T.A. has published three other phreak-files to this date. By the time
you read this, there might be more. To obtain any other U.T.A. phreak-files,
U.T.A. Amiga demos, or info on joining (or teaming up with) U.T.A.,
please call us VOICE at:
----> (904) 843-9269 <----
Please leave a way for us to contact you (BBS, voice, or voice mailbox)
in your message to us. Also, if leaving us a BBS number, MAKE SURE that
you leave us the the current new user password so we can get on. If by
some chance the (904) number is gone by the time you are reading this, try
our ALTERNATE number at: (313) 980-6855, when you hear the guy start talking,
hit *9805412. This will bring you to our ALTERNATE box. We rarely check
the (313) number, so do NOT leave us a message on it UNLESS the (904) box
is down.

 Sprint Code Hacking
===================
(Uploaded to The Hacker's Board by Luke Skywalker)
Sprint Code Access *> 619-340-4800
To begin with, pick a random 5 didit number. It is usually better to start
with a '1'.
Example: 14121
After you have picked the digits, add 100 to the ending.
Example: 14121100
Call the Sprint dial-up for your area and after the tone, enter the code.
This is the tricky part. After you enter the code, listen. If a recording
comes on BEFORE you finish entering the code number, you do not have a code
between 100 and 200. If this happens, do the following, enter the 5 digit
number with 200 added on.
Example: 14121200
Call up the dial-up again and enter the new code. If the recording comes on
after the new code has been dialed, then there is one code between 200 and
300. In other words, there is one code between 14121200 and 14121300. You
have just narrowed it down to 100 digits (about 20 mins. time).
Call Sprint back and enter the following: 14121250. Notice the increasement
, same five digit number plus 250 upwards to 300. The key here is the last 2
digits. These are routing codes used by Sprint. You started with a 5 digit
number and now you have a 6 digit number. You only need the last two.
Example: 50 thru 99
00 thru 49
Once you have Sprint hacking mastered you can hack one in less than 20 mins.
I hope this has helped somewhat.

==================
This file should give you some understanding on how poeple use sprint
access codes... and how they get them. Includes a BASIC program to phreak them
for you!!!!
========================================
WARNING: Illegal!
I'm know all of you have heard of Sprint. Sprint is just another one of
those sleezy companies that steal your money from you just for a stupid phone
call. How can you get around this? With sprint, of course!
The people down at sprint are very nice! Why? By actually making the
system the way they did. The system works on a 6-7 digit coding operation.
I must explain that it is very different in each state on how the codes
are set up. Some codes run from every 30 to 34 numbers.
For example:
10104 is someones code. The next code in line would most likely
be:
10134 or 10138.
It takes some studying to find out how your system works. Best to consult
your local phreak for more information on your local Sprint.
========================================
How to access Sprint:
By calling sprint up (look on this board for sprint access #s) in your
state, you are given a tone, almost like the dial tone you get when you go to
dial a number.
Once you get a tone, you simply enter your 6-7 digit access number, the
area code you are dialing, and the number. Remember, you cannot dial your area
code in your area.
Afterwards, you are in! A phree phone call! Unfortunitly, you cannot
call outside the mainland, Hawaii, Porto Rico, and Alaska and some places of
Canadia. Who cares, all the interesting stuff is here anyway!!
========================================
Tricks of the trade:
If you make a mistake while entering a number, press the '#' or the '*'.
You will be given in tone back to retry your number once more. You can only use
'*' and '#' 14 times before you get a strange busy tone.. then you have to hang
up and call back.
When calling friends, make sure they have acute amnesia! When calling
boards, make sure you use a FAKE name. It's ok if you give 'em your phone
number, anyone can get those from a phone book. But, to be on the safe side,
use your enemies phone number!
========================================
Now, for the program to phreak the numbers for you. This program is made in
Texas Instruments POWER BASIC with impliments of TI BASIC. It can easily be
converted to almost any TRUE basic. I will give you REMs to explain things as
we go along.

========================================
I hope that most of you know a little about programming. At least enuf to
convert this program to your computer. It shouldn't be hard. You can modify it
as much as you wish!
You can always save time by going to your local phreak. Most of them
already have such programs made that will do the work. I prefer you to do it
on your own. This way, you will get to understand it more.
One other thing: the reason why Sprint uses 6-7 digit codes are as
follows:
1-6 Digit codes are for local people
2-7 Digit codes are travelling codes.
In some cities, you may have up to 9 codes depending on how many people
use that system. You can use traveling codes anywhere in the US. It's best
to phreak travelling codes out of Chicago's Sprint number since TONS of
people are using that system. It gives you more of a chance to find one.
One last thing before I let you go, Sprint DOES have the ability to
trace! Why? Because they are part of the phone company even though
your phone company treats them as a separate costumer. Use Sprint codes
anywhere else but your own home phone.
Best to use MCI and METRO since they don't have the ability to trace
with out a bunch of hassles from the phone company wanting to know why.
Then, they have to get a court junction to allow this. Otherwise, it
is disturbing your privacy! Wouldn't that be rude of them to stomp into your
house whilst you are phreaking out codes??? Don't worry, if they did,
you would be let off scott free (if they don't have a warrent!)
