The Occult and Metaphysical Business Directory
|
|
The past decade has seen a substantial increase in the number of
|
|
people involved in alternative religions and spirituality.
|
|
Consequently, there has been a boom in the number of businesses
|
|
catering to the needs of this growing community. Such businesses
|
|
are often small, and unable to afford advertising, relying upon
|
|
word of mouth to let people know of their existence.
|
|
|
|
I have been in the occult business for several years, and I
|
|
understand the important role such businesses play, not only as
|
|
suppliers of goods and services, but also as contact points for the
|
|
magical communities they serve. I am hoping that this directory
|
|
will help people find such contacts, as well as help to support the
|
|
growing occult and metaphysical business community.

How to Use this directory
|
|
The addresses in this directory were collected from various
|
|
sources; other directories, advertisements, word of mouth, etc. I
|
|
set out to limit the directory to retail occult/metaphysical
|
|
stores. I have not included P.O. boxes, as cottage-industry-type
|
|
businesses could fill up a whole other directory. For the same
|
|
reason, I have not included women's book-stores, unless they
|
|
specialize in books on women's spirituality. Once the addresses
|
|
were collected, I sent questionnaires to each business to verify
|
|
the information, and to find out exactly what kinds of goods and
|
|
services they offered. Because not all of the businesses responded,
|
|
this information is not included in many of the listings.
|
|
|
|
I have done my best to include only current addresses and phone
|
|
numbers. Unfortunately, the occult business is a risky one and some
|
|
of the businesses listed may no longer exist. If you discover this
|
|
to be the case, or you have more information, please let me know.
|
|
I have included a copy of the directory listing form in the back.
|
|
|
|
A complete listing includes the business name, address, phone
|
|
number, and a letter code describing the types of goods and
|
|
services offered by that business. The code translates as follows:-
