This should go without saying, but just so that there is no
|
|
question. Effective immediately:
|
|
|
|
The source code to the worm shall not be released to any public
|
|
bulletin board by anyone within the DECnet-Internet community.
|
|
|
|
Posting of this worm to a public board may be construed as malicious
|
|
mischief on behalf of the poster.
|
|
|
|
All copies of this worm should be deleted from any system unless
|
|
someone has been asked by either the HEPnet or SPAN management to
|
|
preserve their copy(ies).
|
|
|
|
Any system manager or system user who knowingly re-releases the worm
|
|
or a variant thereof back into the DECnet-Internet community will be
|
|
guilty of a Felony under the Computer Security Act of 1987, and WILL
|
|
be prosecuted under this act.
|
|
|
|
This notice is issued to all SPAN, HEPnet, and other DECnet-Internet
|
|
sites, as well as all computer security response teams, both domestic
|
|
to the United States and to all European Countries. Foreign incidents
|
|
will be handled through the appropriate Federal agencies.
|
|
|
|
Reporting and followup activities are being coordinated by US-SPAN
|
|
managment at Goddard Space Flight Center. Tail sites will be
|
|
contacted through their appropriate routing center managers as
|
|
necessary.
|
|
|
