This doesn’t appear to ever have worked. binutils doesn’t seem to
support the alpha-elf target at all. It doesn’t make sense to keep
this around.

Matthew Bauer 4224b034cc systemd: use lib.getBin for utillinux 
it’s almost always a better idea to use getBin instead of .bin.
Otherwise, we could get an evaluation error if utillinux is missing
the bin otuput.

This makes us less reliant on the systems/examples.nix. You should be
able to cross compile with just your triple:

Matthew Bauer 5eea658778 systems: correct qemu architectures 
ppc64le and ppc64 are different targets in the configure script. We
can’t use the same one.

TODO: canonicalize similar ones based on qemu’s configure script.

Matthew Bauer dd584d8eeb stdenv/linux: use isCompatible to find bootstrap tools 
This avoids part of the issue where things like armv7a don’t work
because the system doesn’t realize it can use the armv7l bootstrap
tools.

Matthew Bauer 65f2b0a2a3 spidermonkey: fix host, target settings 
spidermonkey doesn’t use the autotools build, host, target convention.
Instead it considers ‘--host’ to be the autotools’ ‘--build’ and
‘--target’ to be the autotools’ ‘--host’! As a result, we cannot
safely use “configurePlatforms”. Instead, we must manually set these
flags.

Puts 2G swap in /var/swap of OVA. This serves as backup when you hit
the memory cap for the image.

Matthew Bauer d453273fbf llvm8: support c++ in cross case 
this adds libc++ to the LLVM cross, giving us access to the full
Nixpkgs set. This requires 4 stages of wrapped compilers:

- Clang with no libraries
- Clang with just compiler-rt
- Clang with Libc, and compiler-rt
- Clang with Libc++, Libc, and compiler-rt

Matthew Bauer 589c2c2870 androidndk: fixup mess 
New android ndk (18) now uses clang. We were going through the wrapper
that are provided. This lead to surprising errors when building.
Ideally we could use the llvm linker as well, but this leads to errors
as many packages don’t support the llvm linker.

flags. There is some overlap between the two but waf errors when it
doesn’t recognize the flag.

Matthew Bauer 393b359f13 plasma: handle ksycoca5 better 
- Remove xdg-desktop-menu-dummy.menu kbuildsycoca5. Not sure why we
  need it but it is a pretty big failure if it exists.
  See issue #56176.

- plasma: clear ksycoca cache before building

  This is needed to pick up on software removed since the last cache
  update. Otherwise it hangs around as zombies forever (or until the
  cache is cleared).

- Add the above + the icon cache cleanup to plasmaSetup

  This will be run for the logged in user on each nixos-rebuild.
  Unfortunately this only works if you are managing software through
  nixos-rebuild (nix-env users need to run this manually, otherwise
  log out and log back in).

No need to check for duplicates as it is now handled by setup.sh
deduplication. Also should use targetOffset here instead of hostOffset
because we are using stack-hook natively.

Matthew Bauer b86e62d30d llvm: support cross compilation with useLLVM flag 
You can build (partially) with LLVM toolchain using the useLLVM flag.
This works like so:

  nix-build -A hello --arg crossSystem '{ system =
    "aarch64-unknown-linux-musl"; useLLVM = true }'

also don’t separate debug info in lldClang

It doesn’t work currently with that setup hook. Missing build-id?

Matthew Bauer ead13a3aca llvm: don’t use targetPlatform 
LLVM should be target independent because it will work with all
machine types. This is different from GCC where it needs to know what
target to build ahead of time.
