In Binary Synchronous Communications (BSC), a control character used
to terminate an intermediate block of characters. The block-check

========================================
An internal NTD document that describes a product. It includes data

not limited to, memory allocation, message switching, job scheduling,
interrupt processing, and I/O distribution. ISIS allows multiple data
communications functions to run on a single processor. Two of its many
services are debugging and I/O port management. Formerly known as
ISIS-II or ISIS2.

the backup Engine when a fault is detected in the Engine. Provides
the user interface and control of the Port Switch Module (PSM).

===
Internet Packet Exchange. An internetworking protocol developed by

IPX is implemented by Xerox Network Systems. See Local Area Network.

ISDN
====
Integrated Services Digital Network. A new set of digital
communications services intended to integrate voice and data
communications. ISDN provides the means to transmit analog signals
(voice, modem tones) digitally. ISDN provides a wideband digital pipe,
which can reduce the number of individual networks that an organization
needs. There are two types of ISDN access interfaces: Basic Rate
Interface (BRI) and Primary Rate Interface (PRI).

ISIS
====
Internally Switched Interface System. The operating system for a TYMNET
node; provides functions that control the overall operation of an
Engine. These functions include, but are not limited to, memory
allocation, message switching, job scheduling, interrupt processing,
and I/O distribution. ISIS allows multiple data communications
functions to run on a single processor. Two of its many services are
debugging and I/O port management. Formerly known as ISIS-II or ISIS2.
ISIS2, ISIS-II Obsolete terms. See Internally Switched Interface

============
Transmission that combines certain characteristics of synchronous and

clock, as does synchronous communication.

a control character used to terminate an intermediate block of
